Copy Disc
The primary purpose of this tool is copying compact disks. To perform this
operation you need to load a compact disk into the recording device, to choose
this device as the source device. If necessary, the location and name of the
intermediate image file can be changed. Then you have to choose the recording
device, to select the type and parameters for copying, then to press the
Copy button.
Warning: Ensure your hard drive has enough free space if you
want to use an intermediate image. For
DVD,
HD-DVD or
Blu-Ray disks copying,
the file system on hard drive has to support files with sizes exceeding 4GB
(JFS).
Warning: Copying of a multisession compact disk is
impossible. If there is no necessity for creation of an exact disk
copy, copy all files from compact disk to a hard disk and burn a new
disk via Burn Files tool.
The management controls for disc copying are listed below:
- Source device
Compact disk drive that contains the disk which needs to get copied. Use
the button Select... located near by the device description to
select the correct drive.
- Speed
- Allows to choose the reading speed of a compact disk. Writing/reading
speed of compact disks is specified as a coefficient of the minimal
speed for this type of media. The maximal speed (MAX) is an optimal
choice in most cases. In case of errors during the reading of a compact
disk it is possible to lower the read speed by using the button
Select... near by the speed value.
- Eject disk after reading
- The media will be ejected from the drive after saving completion.
- Do not abort on errors
- Prevents the operation from aborting when an unrecoverable error is
detected while reading the data stream.
- Retry count is
- Number of attempts to read block of data. Reading error will be
generated passed this number.
- Intermediate image
When copying a compact disk, its content is saved into an intermediate
image which is used further for burning a new copy of the disk. For
DVD,
HD-DVD or
Blu-Ray disk copying, the file
system on hard drive has to support files with sizes exceeding 4GB (JFS).
By default, the intermediate image file is stored in the system's temporary
directory. Its location and name can be changed using the button
Select..., located near by the intermediate image file's
description.
- Delete image after copying
- Controls the deletion of the source disk's intermediate image of after
completion of the copy operation. The image file is deleted by default.
If this option is turned off, copying can be combined with compact disk
image saving.
- Target device
Recording device which will be used for burning the new disk. Use the
button Select... located near by the device description to choose
correct device. The same device can be used as the source and target. After
the intermediate image of a compact disk has been saved, the user will be
given the possibility to replace the media.
- Speed
- Allows to choose the writing speed of compact disk. Writing/reading
speed of compact disks is specified as a coefficient of the minimal
speed for this type of media. The maximal speed (MAX) is an optimal
choice in most cases while using
BURN-Free technology. In case of
errors or if the computer is planned to be used during the burning of
a compact disk, it is possible to lower the writing speed by using the
button Select... near by the speed value.
- Verify media after burning
- After burning is complete reads a media content being burned to check
the data is intact. It's handy to make sure you don't have bad media.
Reports any errors detected (if any).
- Eject disk after copying
- The media will be ejected from the drive after burning completion.
- Copies
Sets the number of copies required to be burned. The user will be prompted
to change the media after each compact disk burning.
- Clone all disk data
Copies all available data (including auxillary data) and the full table of
content of a compact disk. This mode can be used to backup a
"copy-protected" disk or a Video-CD.
This option is ignored for the copy of an audio compact disk (this mode is
described below).
Warning: The cloning mode is only supported with
CD-ROM,
CD-R and
CD-RW disks.
- Copy audio compact disk
Copies all the tracks of an audio compact disk.
