Save Disc Image
The purpose of this tool is to save a compact disk into an image file (or set
of files) on your hard disk. The saved image can then be used further for the
restoration or the duplication of compact disk. To perform this operation you
need to load a compact disk into the recording device, to choose this device
as the source device, to select the type and parameters for the image to be
saved, then to press the Save as... button. You can then set desired
name for the image file in the file selection dialog that's displayed and
press the button OK.
Warning: Ensure your hard drive has enough free space. For
DVD,
HD-DVD or
Blu-Ray disks copying,
the file system on hard drive has to support files with sizes exceeding 4GB
(JFS).
By default, a standard ISO image that can be used in most of the burning
softwares will be created, unless cloning of all data of a disk or saving
audio CD image has been selected.
Warning: Saving of an ISO image of a multisession compact
disk is impossible. If there is no necessity for creation of an exact disk
image, copy all files from compact disk to a hard disk and create a new
image via Burn Files tool.
The management controls for image saving are listed below:
- Source device
Compact disk drive that contains the disk which needs to get saved into
an image file. Use the button Select... located near by the
device description to select the correct drive.
- Speed
- Allows to choose the reading speed of a compact disk. Writing/reading
speed of compact disks is specified as a coefficient of the minimal
speed for this type of media. The maximal speed (MAX) is an optimal
choice in most cases. In case of errors during the reading of a
compact disk it is possible to lower the read speed by using the
button Select... near by the speed value.
- Eject disk after reading
- The media will be ejected from the drive after saving completion.
- Do not abort on errors
- Prevents the operation from aborting when an unrecoverable error is
detected while reading the data stream.
- Retry count is
- Number of attempts to read block of data. Reading error will be
generated passed this number.
- Clone all disk data
Saves all available data (including auxillary data) and the full table
of content of a compact disk. The table of content is stored in a file
with the same name as the image file with a .toc extension.
The saved image is not a standard one and can be burned to another disk
using DVD/CD Toys only. This mode can be used to backup a "copy-protected"
disk or a Video-CD.
This option is ignored for the copy of an audio compact disk (this mode
is described below).
Warning: The cloning mode is only supported with
CD-ROM,
CD-R and
CD-RW disks.
- Save audio compact disk
Saves all tracks from an audio compact disk into a standard PCM WAVE
format data file and an accompanying file with the description of the
according track positions (Cue sheet). The file with the tracks
description has the same name as the image file and has a .cue
extension. This image format is not a standard one, but it is widespread
and used by most of the burning softwares.
