Citeria

Criteria, which applications, utilities and drivers may be included to eCS CD1 (A), to CD2 (B), to www.ecomstation.com site (C)?

RULE 1:

The component may be replaced with new one if:

  • If new application/utility covers the functionality of old application
  • utilities which allow serve system, maintain it, recover.
  • an application may be included if it supports plugins. Such kind of applications causes development of new plugins.
  • WPS version of application is better that PM / Odin version

RULE 2:

Which libraries and runtimes may be included to eCS CD1 (A), to CD2 (B), to www.ecomstation.com site (C)?

When to install new .dll to every PC? Reminder: Many companies need simple eCS installation. And they don't like if we install extra utilities or dlls.

  • If 2 or more applications/utilities included to CD1 require the DLL
  • If 5 thirdparty applications are using the DLL

Examples:

  • libc runtime is included to CD1 because it is used by all applications compliled with GCC (which are using C standard functions)

RULE 3:

  • It's necessary minimize the quantity of libraries in OS base installation.

 


 

 

ArcaOS 5.1.1 - DOS works again

DOS virtual machine works again (it was working on Core 2 Duo, and didn't for i5). Install ArcaOS in UEFI mode to use DOS VM.

We keep the memory about eComStation

OS/2 Guru is the only web-site which talks about the deserts of eComStation (OS/2 Warp was used as base, the development started in 1999.. 2001.. till 2013).
