Seagate Backup Plus Desktop Drive STCA2000200

Mark: Very good

Tested version: 2TB / STCA2000200

  • Available versions: 1TB, 2TB, 3TB, 4TB
  • USB 3.0 interface adapter
  • 4-foot USB 3.0 cable
  • Power adapter
  • 2-year limited warranty

Preformatted with NTFS, software and video clips occupy 800Mb and it was not possible to defrag the drive to shrink the partition to allow addition of a JFS volume. Copied the files to hdd and used DFSee to change the disk layout. Created a 500GB NTFS at the beginning and a 1.5TB JFS volume after that. It's not possible to format it with JFS from a system that has been booted from hdd. Had to boot from eCS 2.2 installation CD to format the volume.

The speed of file transfer seem to be good and it's possible to view video clips with MPlayer from it. It can be a hassle to discover the device and do a chkdsk /F if the computer lock up and require a reboot.

The device appear as a bootable drive in AirBoot!

Notes: The capacity gauge on the front of device require software to show how much of the space has been used. Such software is not available for OS/2-eCS. The included software doesn't look interesting nor give any value.
