ASUS M2N68-AM PLUS
Mark: Good
This motherboard is used in current system builds starting in June 2010
for our eCS 2.0 clients. The builds to date are using AMD Phenom II
Quad-core CPUs. The system does not power off by itself after shutdown
(In my opinion this is an overrated feature anyway for a desktop PC.)
The motherboard has one serial port and one parallel port. These were not
tested here, but as these are standard devices they are expected to "just work".
Multi-core is acheived with "PSD=ACPI.PSD /SMP /PIC" (Attempted to use
"PSD=ACPI.PSD /SMP /APIC" but this hangs the system before PMSHELL loads.)
Chip/Driver/etcetera information:
- NIC is is handled by nVidia MCP61 - system is sluggish and nearly unresponsive
with nveth-0.0.7 included with eCS 2.0 GA. Back-level to nveth-0.0.6 "solves"
the problem. (Bug report has been submitted to nickk.)
- Audio is also handled by nVidia MCP61 - Using UNIAUD from eCS 2.0 GA works
with default system sounds. No other sound tests are done here. System did
not hang playing system sounds after running overnight. Longer time-frame
tests were not done.
- Video is nVidia on-board GeForce 7025 - SNAP installed for this and appears
to work well.
- USB works with a 4 GB Lexar USB "thumb drive" that has been reformatted to
include a 250 MB Fat16 partition. The large Fat32 partition is not seen.

Comments: Gene Alexander 2010-07-15 22:01:27 | The NVETH driver shipped with eCS 2.0 GA is apparently a debug build according to nickk. He recommends back-leveling to nveth-0.0.6 or looking for his updated nveth-0.0.7 on hobbes.nmsu.edu once he has time to post it there. One can get nveth-0.0.6 here:
