ASUS M3A78-CMMark: Good This ASUS M3A78-CM mobo (CM, not EM) has
Note that to use the dual cores requires the use of the the /SMP /PIC switches. Do NOT use the /SMP /APIC switches suggested by ECS during install -- these will hang the machine. In fact, you have to be sure to change these switches at the end of step2 (of install), and again during step 3. I did have a lot of trouble getting the builtin Realtex 8168 ethernet card to work. Ended up having to install ECS without a network card (but with the tcp/ip and netbeui protocols). Then, after ECS finished installing, I got the latest genmac drivers, installed them (they are a WPI package), ran MPTS and selected the GenMac adapter and the tcp/ip and netbios protocols, and also ran tcpcfg2 to tweak my ip settings. Might of had to reboot once during this process. This sort of worked, but firefox was very unstable. So in frustration I disabled the built in realtek ethernet, and installed an old 3com 905b 10/100 PCI card. And now things are stable.
