Sony Vaio VGN-AR21S (Core 2 Duo)

eCS 2.0RC4 installed flawlessly on this PC, along WinXP MCE that came
with the PC.
Display works great with Panorama VESA, however not in wide resolutions
(max. is 1600x1200), due to an NVidia chip (although it has an Intel
controller..) and the lack of driver.
Sounds does work. However, it is better to un activate system sounds,
otherwise the system may (will) crash when producing a system sound
(not always, but too often to be left in use).
PCMCIA does not work. Chipset not supported by any kind of driver.
ACPI and dual core work very nicely. However, the power-off function
through ACPI does not work; that is, it shuts down the PC but does
not power it off. Also, strange behaviour, you have to alternate
between "Shut down" and "power off" when you want to shut down the
computer, otherwise it does not do anything (maybe an ACPI bug in 2RC4?)
SATA disks work in AHCI mode with the newest drivers by Daniela.
The PC is delivered with disks configured as software RAID (incompatible
with eCS), so before doing everything one has to create the restore DVDs
(Sony is sometimes so cheap they do not deliver the recovery disks...),
then change the disk configuration back to normal and then proceed with
the installation(s) (first reinstall the Sony software, including Windows,
if you want, then install eCS).
I have not tried burning a Blu-Ray disk with RSJ, but there is no reason
why it should not work.
Last thing: not accounting for the wifi card (which works well with XWlan
et al.) the PC has one wired card inside the docking station (the only
one recognized when the PC is on the docking station) and one wired card
inside the laptop itself (recognized when the PC is undocked). This may
create difficulties for the LAN configuration.
